Custom Software Engineering was started in 1988 by Ron Davis. At that time, he was working as a programmer for a large Andover Controls dealer in Indianapolis, IN. In his spare time, he learned Assembly language on the IBM PC and wrote a specialized terminal program to make programming Andover Controls devices faster and easier.

Since the company he worked for was not interested in doing anything with the software, he marketed it himself to other Andover Controls dealers as “Andover Programmers Toolbox”, and Custom Software Engineering was born.

Over the years, Custom Software Engineering has developed and published many successful products of its own, as well as products for other companies such as Advanced Control Technologies, KMC Controls and Sears, Roebuck and Co.
